Calretinin positive S neurons

These S neurons are all immunopositive for the calcium binding protein calretinin.

In the guinea pig ileum, the presence of calretinin has been found to be correlated with a two distinct functional types of neuron: ascending interneurons and excitatory motor neurons to the longitudinal muscle.
