This S neuron was impaled with a neurobiotin filled micropipette which, after conjugation with Texas red, is imaged as a red color. The neuron shows up as orange because it is also immunoreactive for the enzyme, nitric oxide synthase (NOS). An antibody versus NOS was used to detect its presence and, after processing with an FITC secondary antibody was imaged as green. This image was produced by a confocal microscope. |
